Work Based Learning student awarded accolade of Apprentice Ambassador for his former secondary school

Lloyd Price, a Work Based Learning student at The College Merthyr Tydfil, has recently been awarded the accolade of Apprenticeship Ambassador for his former high school, Cyfarthfa High School. Lloyd, who began his ‘Contact Centre Operations’ apprenticeship with the college and EE on the 5th August 2013, has been awarded the accolade in recognition of his commitment and excellent achievements during his apprenticeship.

To receive the award, Lloyd was invited back to Cyfarthfa High School to speak to year 11 pupils about his experiences and learning journey, with the aim of inspiring the pupils to consider apprenticeships as a future option.

Lloyd, who has been successful in gaining a full-time position at EE commented, “It felt amazing sharing the experiences and accomplishments that I have gained whilst at the college and EE. It was even more special because I was able to return to the school that helped me start out on the amazing journey I have had so far. I hope my talk has helped pupils have a better understanding of what options they have when they leave school.”

Louise McCarthy, EE representative, commented, “Lloyd has developed so much as a result of his commitment to his apprenticeship at EE and it was a pleasure to accompany him to hear him talk to pupils at his former school.  He really is a shining star and we are looking forward to welcoming more apprentices though our doors in the near future.”
