The college's Work Based Learning division has partnered with The Prince’s Trust to pilot a programme over the summer holidays aimed at engaging with young school leavers and encouraging them to attend college in September. The project will incorporate elements of The Prince’s Trust’s xl programme, which promotes a flexible and experiential approach to learning and provides young people with the opportunity of gaining qualifications. The college is hoping to work with up to twenty young people and we hope it will be the first of many similar projects.
Karen Rees, Head of Work Based Learning said, “The aim of this programme is to provide support and guidance to school leavers who are unsure of their next step. Participants will have the opportunity to develop key skills and gain an understanding of different careers available which we hope will inspire them to continue their education at the college in September.”
Youth charity The Prince’s Trust helps disadvantaged young people gain the skills and confidence to find work. Three in four young people helped by the charity move into work, education or training.
