New Head of College appointed


The College’s Board of Directors are pleased to announce the appointment of Lisa Thomas, our current Vice-Principal Academic, as Head of The College Merthyr Tydfil, for the 2018-2019 academic year.

Lisa, who has been with the college since 2012, will take up the post on 1st September.  Her commitment to the college and her knowledge and skills as a senior leader in further education are second to none. Her track record of achievement at the college is impressive. Over the last six years she has developed and led the college’s A level programme driving forward teaching and learning quality and taking success rates and outcomes from strength to strength.


Commenting on the appointment, Helene Mansfield, Chair of the Board of Directors, said “Lisa’s skills, experience and affinity for the college are evident to us all and I am thrilled that she is going to continue the positive work already underway to drive forward the college as the first choice for learners, employers and parents in the heads of the valleys region.”


Lisa commented: ‘It is a great privilege and honour to be given the opportunity to be Head of College. I have such great hopes and ambitions for both the college and our learners and I look forward to working with staff, learners, parents and our partners to continue the quality improvement journey the college has been on and to take the college forward to be the best it can be.”
