QUALIFICATION AS / A2

COURSE DESCRIPTION Students who follow the course will be introduced to a wide range of physics principles and be led to an understanding of how nature operates at both microscopic and macroscopic scales. They will understand how these principles are applied in tackling problems of human society.
AS/A2 UNITS The first year is the
AS course and covers:
Unit 1: motion, energy & charge
Unit 2: waves & particles
Unit 3: practical physics
The second year completes the
A level with:
Unit 4: oscillations & fields
Unit 5: electromagnetism, nuclei and options
Unit 6: experimental physics
ASSESSMENT 80% examination and 20% coursework
Entry 5 GCSEs at grades A* to C. GCSE science at grade B or above.
PROGRESSION As well as learning about how the universe works, you’ll get a broad training in skills that all employers value – an ability grasp concepts quickly, a determination to find coherent answers, not to mention problem-solving, analytical, mathematical and IT skills.
Even if you don’t end up working in a physics-related industry, these skills are still highly regarded. Studying physics is a good way of keeping your options open and earning a good salary
