A level Computing
AS / A2
A level computing will enhance your understanding of how computers are used to solve a variety of different problems in this developing technological age. You will study logical disciplines to write and test programs; understand the management and organisation of computer systems and the effect of computer applications on society and individuals.
The first year is the AS course and covers topics such as:
- Unit CG1: Understanding of software, system development, data and applications
- Unit CG2: Develop a program using a programming language
The second year completes the A’ level with topics such as:
- Unit CG3: Additional knowledge of software, system development, data and applications
- Unit CG4: Analyse, design, implement, test, and evaluate a computer program
examination and coursework
5 GCSEs at grades A* to C including English language and Maths.C grade or above in GCSE computer science or B grade or above in GCSE ICT.
Many students apply to and are offered places at university to study courses such as computer science, computing, software engineering and programming or any career involving computing in an organisation. A number of students go onto employment or move onto an apprenticeship programme
