College celebrates exceptional year of achievements


The College Merthyr Tydfil has celebrated an exceptional year of achievements at its annual ‘Prize Giving Evening’.

A total of 145 vocational, A level and higher education students received awards in recognition of their academic, volunteering, commitment, all round performance, dedication, sporting and enrichment achievements. 

Guests at the event, included Ms Lorraine Buck, Chief Education Officer, Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council, Ms Rebecca Rees, JNP Legal, Ms Jackie Hooper, JDH Bookkeeping, Mrs Kathy Seddon, Livery Guild organisation and many more!

Speaking at the event, John O'Shea, Principal, commented “2014-2015 was a phenomenally successful year for the college, not only did we achieve a 99% pass rate at A level but we also achieved our best ever vocational results and we have record numbers of students progressing to university. I am so proud of all of our students and I am delighted to see so many of them receiving awards in recognition of their fantastic achievements. I wish them every success in their future studies and careers."
